Artist’s
Statement
The main concept of my work is
thoughts and feelings for nature.
I am very interested in trees, especially roots; it is
because of their beauty, energy, and the power of
growth. The organic and geometric elements that I
find in nature, shapes, lines, patterns, and textures,
fascinate me very much.
Growing up on a dairy farm, I have spent most of my life
with animals, surrounded by beautiful untouched
nature. Therefore, I deeply appreciate the
co-existence of mankind and nature. Through my work,
I hope to send a message to the world; Nature and animals
have the same precious lives as we have.
Currently, I am learning traditional Japanese metalworking
techniques such as hammer raising, different kinds of inlay
with alloy, Shakudo and Kuromido, and patina procedures as
a means of conveying my message.
I am going to continue studying metalworking techniques,
but also would like to combine other materials with metals
to support my work. Also, I intend to obtain more
knowledge about current environmental and animal
issues.
Hopefully through my work, many people will come to
understand this reality and appreciate the existence of all
life on earth.
